Ash Wednesday is a holy day of prayer and fasting. It marks the beginning of Lent and a 40-day period of reflection before Easter. It is traditionally observed with fasting and abstinence from meat by the Christians of the Catholic, Lutheran, Moravian, Anglican (Episcopalian), and United Protestant denominations.

The ashes are prepared by burning palm leaves from the previous year’s Palm Sunday celebrations and are received by churchgoers on their foreheads as a sign of repentance. “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
May the Lenten season be a time of healing, growth and joy. Wishing all our Christian readers a blessed Ash Wednesday, from all of us at Incognito Blog.
