Boxing Day, also known as offering day, is a holiday celebrated on December 26, the day after Christmas. It originated in the United Kingdom during the Victorian era and refers to the tradition of giving “boxes” containing gifts, money and food to those in need.
The Day has evolved to become part of Christian festivities and is concurrent with the Christian festival “Saint Stephen’s Day”. It is also a popular shopping holiday, with price reduction and sales.
